Bill Locander Named Dean of the College of Business

Dr. William Locander , the Davis Chair of Leadership Studies and founding director of the Davis Leadership Center at Jacksonville University , has received appointment to the position of Dean of the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans.

McGowan Scholarship awards first Loyola Student

Loyola University New Orleans is proud to announce its first recipient of the McGowan Scholarship, which provides selected universities with scholarships to help students who wish to purse a business education.

MBA students compete to strengthen New Orleans community

Two students from Loyola University New Orleans' Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program have advanced to the final round of the 2008 JPMorgan Chase Community Development Competition to develop space for New Orleans ' Preservation Resource Center 's Rebuilding Together initiative .

The competition, a real-world learning experience, gives a team of students an opportunity to partner with a New Orleans nonprofit organization to develop a real estate project that is feasible, sustainable, and helps build and strengthen the local community. read more...

Internships

Because some experiences are impossible to gain in the traditional classroom setting, the College of Business requires students to perform an internship in order to gain relevant career-related experiences, reinforce classroom study through a comparison of theory and practice, and pursue the study of specialized business topics in their field of interest in a professional setting. U.S. News & World Report’s List of Best Business Programs
College of Business placed 149 of only 166 business schools worldwide which made the ranking, based upon a survey of officials at undergraduate business programs accredited by the AACSB.

2001 Louisiana Quality Award
This prestigious award recognizes quality leadership in profit and nonprofit Louisiana organizations that meet criteria benchmarks, instill quality awareness and practices, and make quality achievements in Louisiana. Since the establishment of the award in 1995, there have been only eight recipients. Loyola’s College of Business is the first educational institution to receive the distinction.

Student Opportunities

College of Business students have the opportunity to study abroad in several different countries and must complete an internship which gives them valuable working experience as well as makes them more marketable after graduation.
